1. What is the CC Women’s Walking Group all about?

Please refer to website section “About Us” for more particulars and/or contact Trudy Arndt-Harrison at info@cruizincougarz.ca

2. How do I join the Walking Group and where can I get more information?

Contact Trudy Arndt-Harrison, Founding Member, at info@cruizincougarz.ca
Or call 604-466-0235 (leave a message if someone is not available to take your call).

3. Is there an annual membership fee?

Yes, for the past few years an annual membership fee has been applied. The fee is $5 upon membership signup and $5 per year (payable January 1st). These fees supplement the cost of the luncheon gifts and are otherwise not used for any other purpose.

4. How are the Walks chosen and pre-arranged?

Once a year nearing the end of the calendar year, a questionnaire is sent to the CC Members, requesting feedback on Walk favourites and new location suggestions. This information is collated and the most popular walks, “spiced” with some new ones, are listed on the following year’s schedule. New Walk schedules for the following calendar year are produced in December for distribution in December or early January and are available for viewing in the “Members Only” section of the website.

5. Do we walk all year and in rain or shine conditions?

Yes, we do. We walk once a month every month and sometimes twice a month in the summer months. A Walk has never needed to be cancelled thus far. Of course, if snow conditions precluded a cancellation, Walk participants would be notified the night before or on the morning of the scheduled walk.

6. Do I need to attend every walk every month?

No. While your regular participation in the monthly Walks is encouraged to benefit “YOU” on many levels, you are under no obligation to attend every Walk.

7. Can I invite a female friend to the Walks?

Yes, you can invite a female friend, work associate or relative. Only faboooluss women are invited to attend the Walks. The more faboooluss women who participate, the better!

8. How do I obtain directions to the Walk starting points, information on parking and restaurants?

Upon Membership signup, you will receive access code information for the “Members Only” section of the website. Under the subsection “Calendar” you will find date, time, meeting point and restaurant information. You will have the ability to “Google” maps to determine how best to arrive at the Walk starting points from your respective locations.
On a bi-monthly basis, you will also receive email reminders of the upcoming Walks and confirmation of Walk Participants, those requiring or providing rides to and from the Walks, and so on.

9. How does carpooling to and from the Walks work?

Generally, carpooling to and from Walks is encouraged to minimize damage to the environment and to your pocketbook. If you’d like a ride or are willing to pick others up in your area, please let Trudy know as much in advance of the Walk as possible.
As a general guideline, it is suggested you provide the driver of the vehicle with $5/trip/person to cover a portion of the driver’s gas expenses.

10. How are the après-Walk lunch restaurants chosen?

Once the annual Walk schedule is determined, a restaurant near each monthly Walk is researched and chosen. Choice criteria is based on the restaurant’s ability to cater to a larger group, provide a varied and reasonably-priced menu, and in its openness to donate a free gift certificate to our luncheon door prize inventory.

11. Where do the donated lunch door prizes come from?

Signup and annual membership fees are used to supplement the lunch door prize inventory. Most hosting après-Walk restaurants provide a free restaurant gift certificate which is given away at the lunches (depending on if our Walk numbers remain about 20 persons per Walk). Other gifts, such as coffee certificates, bottles of wine, handicrafts, entrepreneurial goods and services certificates are contributed by the Walkers.

12. Can I buy CC-logo’s exercise apparel?

Yes, you can. Please refer to the “Members Only” section under “Clothing” for more details. CC-logo’d apparel is available at wholesale prices and include such items as summer and winter walking vests, t-shirts and water bottles.
